The Chicago Arts Orchestra, in partnership with the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, presents rediscovered galant music from colonial New Spain including Ignacio Jerusalem’s “Al Combate”, a celebratory ode in honor of King Charles III. It is the single largest piece of secular music known to survive from this period and is a paradigm of the galant style that proliferated in 18th-century New Spain.
With special guest, Coro Lux.
